Asian indexes lower amid rising COVID concerns

Stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded lower on Tuesday as worries regarding the rising coronavirus infections dulled investor appetites. Meanwhile, the People's Bank of China reported it will leave key interest rates unchanged in July. Inflation rose by 0.2% in Japan in June.

The Nikkei 225 index tumbled 0.52% at 4:10 am CET. The dollar traded flat against the dollar at ¥109.5285 at the same time.

The Shanghai Composite fell 0.49% at 4:09 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite lost 0.21% at 4:10 am CET. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng slid 0.26% concurrently.

South Korea's Kospi dropped 0.43% at 4:11 am CET and the Australian S&P/ASX decreased 0.12% at 4:11 am CET.
