Wall Street cuts gains premarket, Nasdaq dips

Following a stronger start earlier in the day, shares on Wall Street cut gains in late premarket trading on Wednesday amid lingering concerns over the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19 and its potential impact on global economic recovery.

Despite better-than-expected quarterly results from Johnson & Johnson and Coca-Cola, pandemic fears weighed on sentiment and pushed the Nasdaq 100 into negative territory ahead of today's open.

The Dow Jones was up 0.22% at 8:00 am ET, while the S&P 500 rose just 0.07%. At the same time, the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 fell 0.29%. The euro declined 0.13% against the dollar at 8:05 am ET to go for 1.17674.
