Europe closes mostly higher as ECB keeps rates

Major European stock markets traded mostly higher at the end of the session on Thursday following the European Central Bank's decision to maintain key interest rates at present levels.

The data also showed Eurozone's consumer confidence unexpectedly declined this month, according to preliminary results. Tensions surrounding the Northern Ireland Protocol continued, with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and German Chancellor Angela Merkel holding another round of negotiations.

The DAX rose 0.60% at the closing bell, with Delivery Hero SE surging 5.36%. The CAC 40 increased by 0.26%, as Dassault Systemes SE climbed 2.79%. On the other hand, the FTSE 100 lost 0.43% led by Unilever's 6.01% plunge. The euro fell 0.14% against the dollar to sell for 1.17781, while the pound advanced 0.28% to $1.37510 at 5:32 pm CET.
