Police, health measures protesters clash in Paris

Clashes between protesters and police occurred on Saturday at the marches against new health measures recently imposed in France that took place in Paris. Similar gatherings were held in Lyon, Marseille, Strasbourg, Lille, and other major cities.

The law forces had to use tear gas and water cannons to fight off groups of demonstrators. French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin confirmed nine arrests were made so far. People in attendance were shouting chants and calling for President Emmanuel Macron's resignation.

Earlier this month, Macron introduced new restrictions with the goal of curbing the spread of COVID-19, which include owning a health pass – a proof one has either been vaccinated against coronavirus or tested negative for the disease – to enter the majority of public places and events.
