Asia-Pacific trades mixed amid COVID uncertainty

Major stock markets in Asia-Pacific traded mixed on Tuesday amid ongoing fears concerning the Delta variant of COVID-19. Meanwhile, China accused the United States of not respecting international law and slammed what it described as Washington's "depression" on Beijing.

The Nikkei 225 was up by 0.35% at 4:31 am CET, while the dollar lost 0.16% to the yen, trading for ¥110.2075. South Korea's Kospi rose by 0.60% at the same time. A minute later, Australia's S&P/ASX advanced by 0.40%.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite dropped by 0.19% at 4:17 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite declined by 0.55%. Meanwhile, Hong Kong's Hang Seng decreased by 1.14% at 4:33 am CET.
