7.2-magnitude earthquake shakes Perryville, Alaska

A strong 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck on Thursday waters 65 miles southeast of Perryville, Alaska, just offshore of the Aleutian Islands, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The authorities issued a tsunami warning shortly after the earthquake was registered, noting there are threats coming from the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam.

According to the USGS, the tremor could be much stronger than initially suspected, up to 8.2-magnitude on the Richter scale.
