Shares in Asia higher after data from Japan, China

Shares on the major stock market indexes in the Asia-Pacific region traded higher on Monday as the investors digested the latest slew of data unveiled in Japan and China. While the growth of China's manufacturing sector showed signs of slowing down, consumer confidence in Japan topped the analysts' expectations and improved compared to the previous month.

The Shanghai Composite gained 1.56% at 7:00 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite advanced 1.31% at the same time. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index jumped 1.02% at 7:15 am CET.

South Korea's Kospi grew 0.54% at 7:16 am CET, while the Australian S&P/ASX moved up by 1.33% at the same time.

The dollar traded flat against the yen to sell for 109.6800 at 7:17 am CET. The Nikkei 225 index was up 1.9% at the time.
