Kia presents its first EV with new battery system

The Kia Corporation launched on Monday its first vehicle based on its owner Hyundai Motor Company's EV-only electric-global modular platform E-GMP, the EV6 sedan.

"No longer will you have to compromise your journey by recharging every couple of hours, as the E-GMP includes a large-capacity battery offering 500km of driving range in a single charge," Hyundai said earlier on its new platform, describing it as a "generation technology that is capable of delivering a more safe, stable and reliable driving experience."

Kia launched the new model in Seoul and will release it overseas later this year. The company received over 30,000 preorders of the vehicle in South Korea and 8,800 in Europe and the United States.
