Europe opens mixed amid earnings, data

Major stock markets in Europe opened mixed on Thursday, as investors digested the latest batch of corporate quarterly earnings reports. Bayer, Siemens, Credit Agricole, and Adidas all reported an annual increase in their quarterly revenues. Meanwhile, Germany's factory orders improved in June. Traders are also waiting for the European Central Bank's Economic Bulleting to give an indication on the state of the economy and the Bank of England's decision on whether or not it will raise interest rates.

The DAX began the session flat. The FTSE 100 was down 0.16% at the opening bell, as Lloyds Banking Group dropped 2.85%. The CAC 40 gained 0.08% at the start, led by Credit Agricole increasing 1.55%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar trading for $1.18378 at 9:04 am CET, while the pound gained 0.13% against the American currency changing hands for $1.39066 a minute later.
