ING's net result surges by 388% to €1.46 billion in Q2

ING Groep NV announced on Friday its net result in the second quarter of 2021 observed an annual rise by a staggering 388.0% to reach €1.46 billion. Its result before tax grew by 281.0% year-on-year to €2.06 billion.

On the other hand, the bank's total income declined by 3.3% in comparison to the same trimester last year, coming in at €4.52 billion. Meanwhile, its net fee and commission income grew by 18.3% to €855 million.

"The improving economic environment meant that risk costs were significantly reduced, and expenses are developing in the right direction, which I will continue to monitor closely," ING Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Steven van Rijswijk commented.
