US opens mixed after jobs data

Major stock markets in the United States opened mixed on Friday, as investors digested the better-than-expected July jobs numbers. Meanwhile, Novavax, Virgin Galactic, AIG, and Dropbox unveiled their quarterly earnings reports. The bipartisan infrastructure bill continued to dominate headlines and reports came out that the Treasury Secretary is lobbying to soften federal regulation of cryptocurrencies.

The Dow Jones opened 0.28% in the green, led by JPMorgan climbing 1.46%. The Nasdaq 100 started 0.35% down, with Illumina down by 4.02%. The S&P 500 traded 0.09% higher, as Lincoln National Corporation jumped 2.95%. The Dow Jones and the S&P 500 hit record highs shortly after trading began.

The euro dropped 0.44% against the dollar trading for $1.17830 at 9:38 am ET.
