Asia trades lower after PBoC rate decision

Asians stock indexes traded lower on Friday after the People's Bank of China decided to leave the one- and five-year rates unchanged. Meanwhile, South Korea announced it will prolong most of its coronavirus restrictions as it tries to curb the spread of the Delta variant.

The Nikkei 225 fell by 0.87% at 4:47 am CET, while Hang Seng declined by 1.61% at the same time, and the S&P/ASX 200 traded flat. The Kospi Composite lost 0.61% at 4:28 am CET.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite dropped 1.26% at 4:47 am CET, and the Shenzhen Composite decreased by 1.42% at 4:49 am CET.

The dollar traded flat compared to the yen and sold for 109.7270 at 4:50 am CET.
