Pfizer jab gets FDA's full approval - report

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted full approval to the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer/BioNTech, Washington Post reported on Monday, citing two people familiar with the matter.

The coronavirus shot was previously given Emergency Use Authorization by the FDA and is now the only COVID jab in the US with the agency's full approval. According to data compiled by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 200 million doses of the vaccine have been administered so far.

Pfizer's shares gained 2.42% at 9:44 am ET, while the stocks of BioNTech soared 9.94% at the same time.
