NSW extends lockdown as daily cases break 1,000

New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian (pictured) has extended the coronavirus lockdown in the state until midnight of September 10 in an effort to curtail the spread of the virus.

At the same time, New South Wales registered a new record in daily cases with 1,029 individuals testing positive for the coronavirus. However, Berejiklian did give in to easing some measures for fully vaccinated people, allowing them to have outside gatherings of up to five people, including children, in the local government areas (LGAs).

Berejiklian commented on when she believes things will start to reopen soon, saying that things will start to open once the state has 70% of adults fully vaccinated. According to current projections, that should happen by mid-October.
