US oil, gas output down as Ida nears Gulf of Mexico

Offshore oil and gas operators in the United States were forced to evacuate some of their platforms as Hurricane Ida approaches the Gulf of Mexico, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) stated on Saturday. According to the latest data, personnel has been evacuated from 279 production platforms, representing 49.82% of the 560 manned platforms in the gulf.

The US oil production is currently down 1.65 million barrels per day as a result of the evacuation, or 90.84% of the Gulf of Mexico output. Meanwhile, natural gas is down 1.89 million cubic feet per day, or 84.87%.
