N. Korea likely restarted nuclear reactor - IAEA

The International Atomic Energy Agency said in its annual report that North Korea likely resumed the operation of a 5-megawatt reactor at its main nuclear complex in Yongbyon.

"Since early July 2021, there have been indications, including the discharge of cooling water, consistent with the operation of the reactor," the IAEA stated and warned that Pyongyang's nuclear activities "continue to be a cause for serious concern."

Earlier, in response to joint military drills by the United States and South Korea earlier this year, North Korea warned it plans to boost its "national defense and strong preemptive capabilities to swiftly respond to any military act."
