Samsung invests in nine Korean chip factories - report

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has invested in nine South Korean semiconductor companies since July 2020, Nikkei reported on Saturday. According to documents seen by the newspaper, the value of the investment is around $238 million.

The electronics giant has stakes of less than 10% in each of the firms, but "many companies intend to use the funds for research and development," the report claimed. Samsung announced last month it will put $205.6 billion toward expanding its business in the industries of semiconductors, robotics and artificial intelligence over the next three years.
