All EU states to return to 2019 GDP in 2021 or 2022 - Dombrovskis

European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis confirmed on Saturday that all member states of the European Union will return to their 2019 GDP levels this year or the next, adding that "economic differences between them were not as great as initially thought." He stated countries should improve the quality and composition of public finances, which will "create room for them to invest in areas with potential to create growth and jobs, like the green and digital transitions."

Turning to corporate tax, Dombrovskis said the EU wants "a corporate tax system that enables fair and sustainable growth and investment, meets public financing needs and supports the green and digital transitions." He called the OECD agreement on international corporate taxation a "major turning point" and expressed hope the union can persuade the remaining three member states that have not endorsed it to change their positions.
