S. Korea calls for inter-Korean peace application

The South Korean Unification Ministry pledged on Friday it will continue to work towards implementing the Pyongyang Declaration and achieving peace with its northern neighbor "despite current challenging situations."

"It is disappointing that the Pyongyang Declaration has not been implemented. Any agreement can be completed with its execution," the ministry's Deputy Spokesperson Cha Deok-cheol stated.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un signed the Pyongyang Declaration in 2019 with the goal of enhancing the de-escalation of tensions between their countries. However, the deal is still to be fully implemented.
