Brussels denies report of EU-UK security deal

A spokesman for the European Commission denied on Friday the report that Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte is meeting with British officials to offer the United Kingdom a security and defense deal with the European Union.

"When it comes to any proposal for a framework for cooperation on foreign security or defense issues between the EU and the UK, it would first need to be discussed and agreed among the member states," the spokesman explained. He said the EU is interested in cooperating with the UK on these issues, but "it takes two to tango, and we, on our side, are prepared to dance."
