France to extend health pass beyond November 15

French Prime Minister Jean Castex is planning to introduce a bill on October 13 meant to make the COVID-19 health pass obligatory even after November 15, his team revealed on Monday.

Currently, the health pass is an electronic certificate necessary to enter most public events and institutions in France. It is issued to individuals able to present proof of a completed vaccination, or a negative test performed no longer than 72 hours prior to the desired entry.

President Emmanuel Macron said he was ready to lift some social distancing measures in the areas with decreased virus transmission, but didn't offer an expected time frame. According to a spokesperson, the government is working on adapting the health pass based on future pandemic-related developments in the country.
