Putin's United Russia wins 49% votes in elections

Vladimir Putin's party, United Russia, has won 49.6% votes in the parliamentary elections, likely retaining its majority, the Central Election Commission said on Monday.

This marks a slight decrease since the last elections, when the ruling party was backed by 54% of voters. Meanwhile, the Communist Party secured the second-most votes, with 19.2% votes in its favor.

However, the government's most vocal critics were banned from participating in the elections. Additionally, there have been many accusations of ballot stuffing and forced voting, claims that the authorities denied.
