US crude inventories drop by 3.5M barrels - EIA

United States crude stockpiles decreased by 3.5 million barrels to 414 million barrels in the week ending September 17, the US Energy Information Administration said in its weekly report published on Wednesday.

During the same time, crude oil imports averaged 6.5 million barrels per day last week, up by 700,000 barrels compared to the previous week. Gasoline production averaged 9.6 million barrels per day, the data showed.

Crude oil refinery inputs averaged 15.3 million barrels per day during the same week, marking a 1 million barrel increase compared to the previous week's average. The EIA said that refineries operated at 87.5% of their operable capacity in the same timespan.
