Schumer: Dems united on raising debt ceiling

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (pictured) stated on Thursday that the Democrats are united in support of raising the national debt limit.

The Dem-controlled House already passed a bill along party lines to suspend the debt ceiling and prevent a government shutdown at the end of the month. However, the legislation is facing a vote in the Senate, where Minority Leader Mitch McConnell vowed to block its passage.

Yesterday, the Biden administration said that it is preparing a contingency plan for the case that the debt limit is not lifted.
