EIA: Crude oil inventories in US down by 4.6M barrels

Commercial crude oil stockpiles in the United States decreased by 4.58 million barrels in the week ending September 24, the US Energy Information Administration unveiled on Wednesday. The decline was worse than expected and brought the stockpile down to 418.5 million barrels.

At the same time, crude oil imports averaged 6.6 million barrels per day last week, constituting a weekly increase of 87,000 barrels. Gasoline production was up this week to 9.9 million barrels per day. Total commercial petroleum inventories also rose by 10.9 million barrels last week.

Lastly, crude oil refinery inputs in the US averaged 15.4 million barrels per day, increasing by 67,000 barrels per day when compared to the average registered the previous week. Refineries operated at 88.1% of their operable capacity.
