Senate agrees on bill to avoid govt shutdown -Schumer

United States Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that lawmakers have reached an agreement on a two-month stopgap funding bill.

"We have an agreement on the CR, the continuing resolution to prevent a government shutdown, and we should be voting on that tomorrow morning," said Schumer.

The move was made in an effort to avert a government shutdown on September 30, the end of the US fiscal year, which is expected in the event the lawmakers fail to agree on government funding.
