Europe closes higher on services PMI data

Major European stock markets closed with gains on Tuesday as PMI data revealed that the UK service sector beat expectations to expand in September and European Central Bank Governing Council member Robert Holzmann expressed hope that the spike in inflation is only transitory.

The DAX gained 1.05% as Infineon Tech added 4.86%. The FTSE 100 grew by 0.94% led by Barclays jumping 4.05%, while the CAC 40 advanced by 1.49% with Credit Agricole soaring 5.69%.

The euro dropped 0.06% against the greenback at 5:28 pm CET, changing hands for 1.16128. At the same time, the pound added 0.28% to sell for 1.36474 dollars.
