Germany's trade surplus down to €10.7B in August

Germany's non-adjusted foreign trade surplus stood at €10.7 billion in August, down from €17.9 billion documented in July, according to the data released by the country's Federal Statistical Office Destatis on Friday. In seasonally adjusted terms, the trade surplus figure was €13 billion.

Exports amounted to €104.4 billion in August 2021, down 1.2% from the previous month, but 14.4% higher compared to August 2020. Meanwhile, imports rose by 3.5% on a monthly basis and soared 18.1% annually to stand at €93.8 billion in August 2021.

In August, Germany's imports from other European Union countries increased by 11.2% and exports to those countries surged 15.7% compared to the same month a year ago.
