Honda to cut output by 30% at Japanese plant

Honda Motor Company Ltd. announced on Friday that it will reduce production by just under 30% in its Sayama plant in Saitama prefecture throughout October.

The decision to cut output was made due to the semiconductor shortage and the spread of the coronavirus in Southeast Asia, the carmaker specified.

Chip supply issues had led the company to temporarily halt or limit production at its plants in Suzuka, Vietnam and Malaysia, as well as the United States and Canada earlier this year.
