Precious metals rise after disappointing US jobs data

Precious metals traded higher on Friday after the latest employment data in the United States failed to hit the expected mark by a large margin, possibly causing market participants to buy safe-haven assets.

Gold advanced 1.12% to $1,774.72 per ounce at 8:39 am ET. Silver jumped 1.78% to sell for $23.01 per ounce at the same time.

Palladium rose by 4.16% to $2,045.05 per ounce at 8:40 am ET. Platinum was 4.87% higher, changing hands for $1,030.89 concurrently.
