Johnson reveals £9.7B investment ahead of summit
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced £9.7 billion worth of foreign investment in the United Kingdom's economy ahead of a business summit the government is organizing on Tuesday, Sky News reported. The investment should also create around 30,000 jobs throughout the country.
"The world's top investors have seen the massive potential in the UK for growth and innovation in the industries of the future. The fantastic £9.7bn of new investment we have secured today will power our economic recovery, creating thousands of jobs and helping to level up across the country," Johnson said. The prime minister and Foreign Secretary Liz Truss are also hosting a dinner with business executives, including Microsoft founder Bill Gates, as well as heads of JPMorgan, Barclays, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Blackstone and BT.
