Japan posts ¥623 billion trade deficit in September

Japan's total merchandise trade deficit went under analysts' projections in September, landing at ¥622.8 billion, according to a report released by the country's Ministry of Finance on Wednesday.

The figure marked a deterioration when compared to the ¥637.2 billion surplus recorded in August this year, also down on yearly basis in contrast with the surplus of ¥667.4 billion seen in August 2020.

The country's exports and imports for the time period surprised expectations rising by 13% and 38.6% year-on-year, respectively.
