Biden, Macron look to improve cooperation in Indo-Pacific

United States President Joe Biden and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and stability and security in the Sahel, according to the White House's readout of their phone call released on Friday.

Improving Europe's defense and "ensuring complementarity with NATO" were some of the topics of the conversation as well.

The relations between the two countries took a serious blow when Washington struck a nuclear-powered submarines agreement with Australia, with Canberra immediately canceling a similar deal with France worth €56 billion.
