US opens higher as earnings season ramps up

United States stock markets opened in the green on Monday as more key companies release their quarterly earnings reports this week. Later in the day, Facebook is set to publish its earnings after the testimony by whistleblower Frances Haugen before British lawmakers. Meanwhile, Tesla jumped premarket after car rental company Hertz announced it has ordered 100,000 of its vehicles.

The Dow Jones gained 0.21% at 9:30 am ET, as Dow Inc. increased by 1.18%. The S&P 500 rose by 0.23% at the same time, led by PayPal Holdings, which jumped 4.20%. The Nasdaq 100 was up by 0.40%, with Tesla Inc. soaring 4.55%.

The euro traded 0.28% lower compared to the dollar and sold for 1.16125 at 9:32 am ET.
