EMA approves Moderna's booster for adults

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) announced in a statement on Monday that a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Moderna, Inc. "may be considered" in people over 18 years of age.

The agency explained that the data signaled a substantial rise in antibody levels in adults who were given the booster dose six to eight months after the initial inoculation.

"At national level, public health bodies may issue official recommendations on the use of booster doses, taking into account the local epidemiological situation, as well as emerging effectiveness data and the limited safety data for the booster dose," the statement read.
