DAX, CAC open at record highs amid bank earnings, data

European markets opened in the positive territory on Thursday, with the DAX in Frankfurt and the CAC 40 in Paris hitting new records after Credit Suisse, Societe Generale, ING and Commerzbank all presented their latest respective earnings reports. Elsewhere, Roche agreed to a $20.7 billion deal to buy back the stake in the company it had sold to Novartis 20 years ago.

Investors will monitor the Bank of England's monetary policy decision, services and private sector data for Germany, the Eurozone and the United Kingdom, as well as the euro area producer prices report during the day.

The DAX grew 0.49% at 9:03 am CET as Siemens Energy rose by 2.23% and led the gains at 9:05 am CET. London's FTSE 100 was 0.35% higher at 9:00 am CET with BT Group, its best performer, increasing 6.05% at 9:02 am CET. The CAC 40 advanced 0.39% at 9:00 am as Societe General gained 3.60% at 9:03 am CET.

The euro was down 0.36% in comparison to the dollar, selling for 1.15707 at 8:59 am CET. The British pound decreased by 0.22% against the greenback, going for 1.36575 at the same time.
