UK construction sector activity improves in October
The seasonally adjusted Construction PMI Total Activity Index (PMI) in the United Kingdom reached 54.6 in October, unexpectedly rising 2 index points from the month prior, IHS Markit and Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) revealed in a report published on Thursday.
The house building index amounted to 55.4, outgrowing commercial work by 0.2 index points, and overtaking its place as the best-performing category of construction work. The civil engineering activity index came in at 51.4.
"UK construction companies achieved a faster expansion of output volumes in October, despite headwinds from severe supply constraints and escalating costs," IHS Markit Director Tim Moore commented.
