Eurozone producer prices up 2.7% in September

Producer prices in both, the Eurozone (EA19) and the European Union (EU27), increased by 2.7% in September compared to the previous month, according to a Eurostat report published on Thursday. The energy sector producer prices led the overall rise, with monthly jumps of 7.7% and 7.8% for the EA19 and the EU27, respectively.

The EU statistical office noted that September's year-on-year advance in producer prices amounted to 16% in the euro area and to 16.2% in the entire bloc. Producer prices in the energy sector were again behind the yearly increases, soaring 40.7% and 40.1% for the Eurozone and the entire EU, respectively.

On an annual basis, the industrial producer prices climbed the most in Ireland and Denmark, while the lowest price rises were observed in Malta and Slovakia.
