US opens lower with focus on data

Major stock markets in the United States opened lower on Wednesday, as investors digested the latest inflation and labor market data reports. Meanwhile, US officials were cautiously optimistic on the progress being made on fixing the ongoing supply chain issues.

The Dow Jones opened 0.21% in the red, with Nike losing 1.52%. The Nasdaq 100 was down by 0.82% at the starting bell. The S&P 500 began 0.43% lower. NVIDIA Corp dropped 5.70% in both indexes at the start. Additionally, Tesla Inc. fell below the one trillion dollar market cap.

The euro declined 0.26% against the dollar trading for $1.15660 at 9:31 am ET.
