PLA patrols Taiwan Strait as US lawmakers visit island
The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has carried out a combat readiness patrol "in the direction of the Taiwan Strait," Beijing's Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Friday.
The ministry described the patrol as "a necessary action" meant as a response to the situation in the waterway.
Earlier during the day, China's Foreign Ministry criticized the second-in-a-row visit to the island by United States lawmakers.
