Europe opens higher with data in focus

Major stock markets in Europe opened higher on Monday, as investors waited for the latest data reports to give them an indication of the state of the economy in the region. France's Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire asserted that the country's economic growth projections are still solid despite new virus fears.

The DAX started the session 1.11% in the green, with Deutsche Bank rising 2.13%. The FTSE 100 was up by 1.17% at the opening bell, led by Bt Group plc increasing 8.31%. The CAC 40 began 1.37% higher, as ArcelorMittal gained 3.18%.

The euro declined 0.53% against the dollar to trade for $1.12634 at 9:04 am CET, while the pound dropped 0.21% against the American currency to change hands for $1.33276 a minute later.
