German 7-day incidence rate at 2nd-highest level

German seven-day COVID-19 incidence rate landed below the record-high it set the day before, data compiled by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) showed.

The number of new cases per 100,000 people in the last seven days hit 452.2, slightly down from yesterday's record 452.4. It is the first time the rate stopped rising since hitting an all-time high on November 8.

In the meantime, the nationwide death toll reached 101,344, with another 388 fatal outcomes attributed to the virus, while 45,753 new infections were seen which took the country's total to 5,836,813.
