Lavrov condemns NATO's 'eastward expansion'

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov condemned on Thursday what he described as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) "further expansion to the East" as that affects his country's security.

Speaking at his meeting with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken during the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's (OSCE) summit in Stockholm, Lavrov stressed Moscow is not interested in conflict. He also reminded the attendees of "the principle of indivisible security in the OSCE and the Russia–NATO Council, which says that no state must strengthen its security at the expense of other countries' security."

Prior to meeting with Blinken, Lavrov remarked that Russia is ready to restart the negotiations with the US about the crisis in Ukraine.
