Europe closes lower on virus fears
Major stock markets in Europe closed lower on Friday, as investors were cautious due to the still to be determined impact of the Omicron variant on trade. Bank of England officials noted that the new variant will be taken into account for the bank's December decision, while Switzerland decided to tighten its measures. Meanwhile, services and other economic data were mixed around the region.
The DAX ended the session 0.61% lower, with Delivery Hero dropping 4.61%. The FTSE 100 was down by 0.26% at the closing bell, as Ocado Group fell 3.39%. The CAC 40 finished the day 0.74% in the red, with Safran losing 3.92%.
The euro stood flat against the dollar trading for $1.13002 at 5:38 pm CET, while the pound decreased 0.52% against the American currency to change hands for $1.32300 at the same time.
