Ireland sets new COVID restrictions

The Irish government intends to introduce new coronavirus restrictions in order to curb the spread of new infections, the Irish Independent reported on Friday. The restrictions will be in place until January 9.

The report indicates that the hospitality sector will suffer the most from the restrictions, with nightclubs being forced to close again and other live venues having to operate at 50% of capacity with people wearing masks all the time apart from drinking and eating.

At the same time, service in restaurants, bars, and pubs will return to only tables, with six people permitted per table. Lastly, four households will be allowed to meet in a home at one time.
