Trump says Comey would've taken him down

Former United States President Donald Trump admitted in a Fox News interview that former Federal Bureau of Investigations Director James Comey would have "taken him down" for his alleged collusion with Russia if the FBI head had remained in charge of the federal agency.

Trump said that some people were convinced that he made a mistake in firing Comey and that those people now say it was "the most incredible, instinctual moves that they've ever seen." "They were looking to take down the president of the United States," the former head of state explained. "I don't think I could've survived if I didn't fire him."

Trump's decision to remove Comey in 2017, four years into his ten-year term, was largely perceived as an attempt to evade prosecution, which would make the president guilty of obstructing justice.
