Eurozone GDP grows 2.2% in Q3

The seasonally adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) in the euro area (EA19) rose by 2.2% in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the previous trimester, according to an estimate released by Eurostat on Tuesday. In the entire European Union (EU27), the economy grew by 2.1% on a quarterly basis. The Austrian economy led the entire bloc by expanding by 3.8%, while Lithuania's GDP growth stood at 0%, the lowest among all EU member states.

The GDP increased by 3.9% in the Eurozone and by 4.1% in the EU27 in the third quarter compared to the same time span a year ago.

Quarter on quarter, employment was 0.9% higher in both the euro area and the whole EU for the third three-month period. The figure was 2.1% up in both the Eurozone and the EU27 in the third quarter on a yearly basis.
