US opens mostly higher after vaccine news

Equities on the major stock market indexes in the United States traded mostly higher as the session started on Wednesday after Pfizer Inc. suggested the third dose of its COVID-19 vaccine has the capacity to neutralize the Omicron strain.

The traders awaited the US Bureau of Labor Statistics' report on the number of job openings in October.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.14% at the open as Dow Inc. increased by 0.98%. The Nasdaq 100 slid 0.17% at the same time with NXP Semiconductors plunging 4.96% a minute later. The S&P 500 concurrently advanced by 0.13% as Stanley Black & Decker surged 4.25% a minute into the session. The euro moved up by 0.35% versus the dollar at 9:32 am ET, selling for 1.13086.
