Air France orders 100 Airbus A320neo aircraft

Air France-KLM SA announced on Thursday it ordered 100 A320neo family aircraft produced by Airbus SE, while reserving an option to add another 60 planes for fleets of KLM and Transavia Netherlands.

The delivery date, set for the second half of 2023, will also immediately cut the company's carbon-dioxide emissions by utilizing sustainable aviation fuels and eco-piloting as part of Air France's plans to become carbon-neutral by 2050. The new planes will mostly fly around Europe.

"The outstanding performances of the A320neo family and of the A350F Full-Freighter, which are quieter, more fuel-efficient and more cost-effective aircraft, make them the best choices for the long-term growth of our fleet. They will be instrumental in reaching our ambitious targets," Air France CEO Benjamin Smith noted.
