Djokovic denied entry into Australia

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic will not defend his title at the Australian Open as he was denied entry into the country, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced.

The decision comes after the world number failed to provide the necessary evidence to meet entry requirements into Australia which has led to the cancelation of his visa. "Rules are rules, especially when it comes to our borders. No one is above these rules," said Morrison.

Djokovic was given a medical exemption from having to receive a coronavirus vaccine and after arriving to Melbourne unvaccinated, he was held overnight with official questioning validity of his visa.
